UV Coating is rapidly being adopted as a means to enhance, protect and add value to your digital and litho printed documents. The application of a gloss UV Varnish can be used enhance the print quality, making colours appear richer and more vivid, as well as offering protection for documents being frequently handled.
UV Coating is widely considered as being a more environmentally friendly alternative to lamination as virtually no waste is produced in the production process. Unlike laminated stocks, which normally should be treated as plastic waste, UV coated stocks can be disposed of or recycled as normal printed paper would be.The DigiCoater 20 caters for printers who require a larger sheet width of up to 19.6". The DigiCoater 20 is available in 2 versions.
Key Product Features • Automatic touch screen operation • Multiple coating options • Can be used to prime printing stock • Variable coating thickness • Multiple supply tanks with auto wash • Sheet weight 150lb cover+ • Filtered recirculation system • Variable speed to 98 feet per minute • Enclosed System For Dust Free Prints • Compact footprint • Choice of air feeders and joggers
The first version is available with 4 tanks and 2 coating rollers and is ideal for customers who do not wish to use the machine for priming* and wish to coat only. The second version is available with 6 tanks and 3 coating rollers and is ideal for customers who want the flexibility to have coating and priming available from one machine. Switching between coating and priming is acheived via the touch screen control panel.
The Digicoater 20 has a “turret system” containing 2 or 3 rollers. This is controlled by compressed air and switching between different varnishes, textures or priming couldn’t be easier.
The compressor enables the use of an “air knife” which directs a jet of air at the sheets to ensure release from the coating rollers. This feature is optional on most coaters but is standard on the DigiCoater 20. Control of the sheet thickness and the coating thickness are by way of 2 levers on the side of the machine within easy reach of the operator. All other functions are directed from the touch screen panel including the wash down process which is completely automated on the DigiCoater 20.
The DigiCoater 20 has its own integral catch tray but can also be ordered with a jogger as an option either at time of order or at a later date.
There is an optional Digi-IR unit available for coating wax based toners. This unit is placed in front of the coater and heats the toner prior to coating to ensure complete adhesion of the UV varnish to the toner. There is no loss of quality during this procedure.
Simple one-finger operation. Never before has operation of a UV Coater been so easy. The intelligent touch screen interface allows you to control every aspect of production from start to finish. Variable data fields allow you to precisely control throughput speed. Select from primer, coating station and which coating tanks to use. Clean ups are semi automatic with cleaning and drain times specified through the touch screen control panel.
A gloss varnish is often used to enhance the appearance of documents, brochures or flyers, as the coating reflects back the light and makes colours appear richer and more vivid. A gloss coating can add impact to the print, especially in sales or promotional material, where optimum presentation of images is important.
A matt varnish gives the printed surface a non-glossy, smooth look. This type of seal is sometimes used to ‘soften’ the appearance of a printed image. Small text in a leaflet or booklet can be easier to read on a surface coated with matt vanish as the coating scatters the light and reduces glare.
A textured finish allows the designer to create a special effect on the printed surface. This is achieved by using a textured roller.
Applying a UV coating protects the printed image as well as enhancing it. This is essential for anything that will be frequently handled or submitted to the rigours of the postal system. The DigiCoater 20 is compatible with most print technologies including liquid ink and toner based digital engines, photo, ink jet and conventional litho.
